TAJ100 Tajwīd Theory (September 2024)

Course Overview: The TAJ100 Tajwid Theory course provides a comprehensive understanding of Tajwid’s theoretical aspects. This course must be taken alongside the Ijazah in Tajwid and Qur’anic Reading course for students to be eligible for their ijāzah.

Course Objectives:

  1. To introduce students to the history and development of Tajwid.
  2. To understand the fundamental principles and rules of Tajwid.
  3. To prepare students for the practical application of Tajwid in Qur’anic recitation.

Key Topics Covered:

  • History of the Qur’an and Tajwid
  • Articulation points of Arabic letters
  • Syllable structure in Qur’anic recitation
  • Qualities and characteristics of Arabic letters
  • Rules of Tafkhim, Tarqiq, Idgham, Nun Sākin, Mīm Sākin, Madd, Qasr, Waqf, Ibtidā’, and Khatm al-Qurān

Registration:

  • Opens in August and closes in September.
  • Students must register for both the TAJ100 Theory course and the Ijazah in Tajwid and Qur’anic Reading course.

  • Saturdays from 11 am to 1 pm Mountain Time.
  • (Theory and Ijazah Reading are at the same time)
