This course is an on-phone/online program in which the students who are attending the Qirā’āt theory (AS01) course will be required to take to complete their ijāzah in the variant readings. The AS01 course is taught immediately before the ijāzah reading so that the students can easily sit through the theory course and then immediately sit in the ijāzah reading instead of having any gap in between.
An ijāzah is a traditional certification which means that there is a system and a specific structure that is followed and implemented.
In order to receive an ijāzah, students must also complete the following:
– AS01 course (online)
– Learn the concept of tahrīrāt of the first juz’ in detail. Shaykh Uthman will explain how to research and understand the variant readings.
– Understand the uṣūl of the variant readings with exceptions from the various books.
– Understand how to read and research the variant readings using the book Farīdat al-Dahr
– Learn how to recite in Jam’ bī al-‘aṭf, and complete the recitation of the Qur’ān in Sughra (Ijazah reading)
Registration opens up in August and closes in September. Students receive their ijāzah in August after passing an exam on the variant readings. Because the big variant readings is a terminal degree, the graduating students must attend the graduation event to receive their ijāzah.
Theory Class takes place once a week for two hours and Ijazah reading is once a week for one hour.
