Course Overview: The TAJ100 Tajwid Theory course provides a comprehensive understanding of Tajwid’s theoretical aspects. This course must be taken alongside the Ijazah in Tajwid and Qur’anic Reading course for students to be eligible for their ijāzah.
Course Objectives:
- To introduce students to the history and development of Tajwid.
- To understand the fundamental principles and rules of Tajwid.
- To prepare students for the practical application of Tajwid in Qur’anic recitation.
Key Topics Covered:
- History of the Qur’an and Tajwid
- Articulation points of Arabic letters
- Syllable structure in Qur’anic recitation
- Qualities and characteristics of Arabic letters
- Rules of Tafkhim, Tarqiq, Idgham, Nun Sākin, Mīm Sākin, Madd, Qasr, Waqf, Ibtidā’, and Khatm al-Qurān
Registration:
- Opens in August and closes in September.
- Students must register for both the TAJ100 Theory course and the Ijazah in Tajwid and Qur’anic Reading course.
