In this course students will be covering the introduction to the book al-Ri’āyah by Makki b. Abi Tālib (d. 438 Hijri). al-Ri’āyah is a book on how to recite the Qur’an (Tajwīd) by a contemporary of Abu ‘Amr al-Dānī, but the introduction of the book is unparalleled in the topic of ones approach to the Qur’ān as a reciter of the holy book.
In the past Shaykh Uthman used to cover selected topics from al-Tibyān of al Nawawī however this year he decided that the text of al Nawawī is not a classical text rather it is a much later traditional text which doesn’t do justice to the classical approach.
